I love Harry Potter. I grew up reading the books, and my husband and I do not leave the house during “Harry Potter weekends” on TV. We are going to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter this month and are SO EXCITED TO BUY ALL THE THINGS. Because we are adorable, we have even referred to my depression as “the dementors coming.” It’s fun. Really.
J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter series (who needs no introduction, really), has shared her personal experience with depression and has even gone so far as to support a fan struggling with depression on social media. She is unashamed of her depression and attributes her creation of Harry Potter to a severe bout of depression that she overcame through writing.
Depression looks like…the world’s richest author? Yes. J.K. Rowling reminds us that depression isn’t the end of your story, it’s just the beginning.
